Night on the Galactic Railroad

(1985 / dir. by Gisaburō Sugii / 113 minutes)

Sunday, November 12, 7:00 pm / Mesa Del Sol

Adapted from Japanese poet Kenji Miyazawa’s beloved 1927 novel, Night on the Galactic Railroad tells the story of two friends who depart the small town where they live on a train trip through the stars. A quiet, mesmerizing, and deeply moving film about loss, loneliness, and the mysteries of existence, Night on the Galactic Railroad is both gentle and dreamlike: tonic for the early dark of late fall.

The sixth in a series of historically significant (and always entertaining) film classics, screened every other weekend throughout the semester.

Free and open to all UNM students.
