Exchange: Between You and Me is a Rumi-inspired show, based on a modern poet’s riff on the thirteenth-century poet’s work:
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other”

The installation of work, by twenty New Mexican artists, will include citation of this well-known interpretation of the Persian poem by poet Coleman Barks. His version compellingly imagines a space where people might meet, regardless of belief. In our show, multiple ways of seeing, and our public audiences’ diverse ways of looking, can be exchanged.

We’ve had several artists offer to speak about their work in a conversation moderated by College of Fine Arts Professor Susan Dever.
