Stories from an Interloper:  How a National Lab Scientist fits within Film & Digital Media: During my seven-year tenure, students from IFDM / FDMA have served as interns working with me on game-based research at Sandia National Labs.  This talk will cover some of the projects where students have contributed, and how FDMA can position itself to strengthen its relationship with the Labs for years to come.

Jon Whetzel is a Senior Member of Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories. His work in serious games and interactive simulations has been deployed to the US Navy, US Air Force, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Energy. He also leads Sandia’s Serious Gaming Consortium, an interest group between the Sandia, academia, and members of the game development industry. Jon teaches Introduction to Game Development and Advanced Game Development for the Film & Digital Arts Department.
